Bad breath. So common that everyone knows about it. But, did youknow there is a medical term for bad breath? It’s called halitosis. Many people suffer with bad breath daily, but how does it happen and how can you fix it?
Many experts say the main cause of bad breath is poor dental health habits. However, poor eating habits and poor health can also contribute to bad breath. Food leads to bad breath because the food you eat is broken down and then absorbed into the bloodstream, which eventually arrives at the lungs and then given off in your breath. Foods with strong odors are only partly covered by toothpaste and mouthwash. Food stuck in your mouth also causes bad breath if the food is left in there long enough and starts growing bacteria. This bacteria commonly leads to gum disease. Gum disease is a health problem and also a regular cause of bad breath. Other poor health problems can also lead to bad breath. These include: pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, acid reflux, diabetes, and more serious conditions like liver and kidney problems.
